when i first heard this song, i was balling my eyes because it reminded me of my best friend edwin who is away on base as a US marine. the song is probably referencing a husband and a wife and the husband is going to fight, but i think it can also reference 2 best friends. but anyway, the chorus lyrics are what hit me the hardest. “and they way we say goodbye is not that way that anyone would do like a wave out on the ocean i will always come right back to you like we blinked not a moment is gone we’ll pick up where we left off” no one understand how hard it is to have your best friend as a US marine. i cant talk to him all the time and sometimes i cant talk to him for days, weeks or even months and im still trying to deal with that now. its harder than anyone ever thinks. i cant even imagine what its like for girlfriend/boyfriends and spouses. but regardless, i know he’ll always come back to me and be there for me, even if it is on his timing. i love you so much edwin. stay strong and make me proud out there! <3

This is my best friend, PFC Edwin Kent. He graduated Basic Training of the Marine Corps on April 12th, 2013 and I couldn’t be any more proud of him. He’s been wanting to become a Marine since I’ve known him and he’s finally accomplished it! I’m so happy for him. Basic was definitely hard for him and even me too. Not being able to pick up the phone to call or text him when I needed him or just wanted to talk to him was one of the hardest things. Writing letters just wasn’t enough for me and probably not him either. The distance was so hard but I’m glad I can finally call him a OFFICIAL MARINE and I can talk to him! I love you so much Edwin and so proud. Best friends forever. ❤💙😊☺🇺🇸🔫
